Putting Hackney on the map

East london line extension

Highlighted is the East London Line extension, including Hackney's stations - Hoxton, Haggerston and Dalston Junction.

Hackney’s first tube-style link via the extension of the East London Line is part of a £1.4 billion investment programme which will see a wide range of benefits to be rolled out by Transport for London (TfL) between now and 2011 – in time for the Olympics.  New stations will be opened at Dalston Junction, Haggerston, Hoxton and Shoreditch High Street by 2010, followed by a link to Highbury & Islington in 2011.

See the latest tube map with the new stations here.

The North London Line (NLL) which passes through Hackney via Dalston Kingsland, Hackney Central, Homerton and Hackney Wick, is also undergoing an ambitious overhaul.  NLL services will be taken over by London Overground from Sunday, 11 November, and travellers will be able to use pay-as-you-go Oyster cards on the line for the first time.  The stations will all be rebuilt or refurbished by 2010, with eight rains an hour on the NLL and 12 trains an hour on the ELL.

Both railways will eventually form part of the London Overground network – which will ultimately create an orbital rail link around the capital by 2012.

East London Line

The East London Line is closed from 22 December 2007 for major extension work, and will re-open in June 2010. See News for more information.
