Hackney Compact Awarded Compact Excellence Award

compact award 2009

A team from Hackney has been awarded a Compact Excellence award in recognition of their new local Compact which has strengthened relationships between the voluntary and community sector and the council in Hackney.

The Compact Awards are held every year to demonstrate the Compact in action and recognise excellent partnership working at both a national and a local level.

The Compact is an agreement between public agencies, community and voluntary organisations and wider ‘third sector' bodies such as housing associations. It sets out a clear set of guidelines and principles that govern how we work together in order to benefit local people and deliver the objectives of the Sustainable Community Strategy. It can also be used to help deal with disputes between organisations should they arise.

It was developed with input from across the partnership and delivered by the Council, Hackney Council for Voluntary Services (HCVS) and a Compact implementation group.

Since its launch in 2008, around 65 organisations have signed up to the Compact but we would like to see even more using it in their day-to-day work. If you would like more information, please contact Geoffrey Lutaaya on 020 8356 7601 or email geoffrey.lutaaya@hackney.gov.uk
