Tackling violent crime in Hackney – have your say at the Community Engagement Board

Hackney’s streets are safer than ever, but what impact do relatively rare incidents of serious violence, such as the recent shocking death of 16-year-old Ahmed Benyermak, have on perceptions of crime?

Looking behind the headlines, what are the real facts and figures about violent crime in Hackney?

Come, find out and have your say at the next meeting of Hackney’s Community Engagement Board, on

Wednesday, September 10th, from 6pm to 8pm

At: Morley Hall (City Edge), 125-7 Mare Street, London E8 3RH

Members of the public are welcome.

“We cannot just sit back and leave it to others to tackle the issue of violent crime,” says Kenrick Hanson, Chair of the Hackney Community Engagement Board (CEB) executive. “Those of us who live or work here in Hackney, can help to make this a safer place for all of us.  The police need us as much as we need them. We must work together to try and prevent these terrible crimes.”

The meetings are organised by the CEB executive, with the support of the Metropolitan Police Authority, and the involvement of key voluntary and statutory organisations in Hackney.

The aim of the Board is to enable people in Hackney to understand, inform, influence, support or challenge policing and community safety policies that affect them.
