Consultation starts on Hackney’s Compact

Statutory, community, voluntary and wider Third Sector agencies in Hackney, such as housing associations, have until June 27th to respond to a consultation on a draft text for the local Compact.

The Compact is a written agreement between all these organisations on the way they will work together in order to benefit local people.  It covers a range of issues like funding, premises, volunteering and policy development.

The draft, which is available for download below, has been produced by the Compact working group, a group of voluntary, community and statutory sector representatives brought together by Team Hackney to develop a refreshed Hackney Compact.

“We all recognise that by working in partnership towards common aims and objectives we can deliver more for the people of Hackney than we could alone,” says Gavin Cansfield, chair of the Compact Working Group and board champion for community engagement for Team Hackney.

“Once the text is agreed we will be challenging every statutory, voluntary, community and third sector organisation in Hackney to sign up to the Compact.  Please take the time to read the document and respond with your views.”

For more information or to respond to the draft contact Susan Gooding, head of Service for Hackney Council’s Community Partnership team, on 020 8356 4063 or by email to susan.gooding@hackney.gov.uk.

Hackney Compact Consultation Document explains what the Compact and the consultation are all about and includes a summary of the draft text.

The Hackney Compact Draft Text for Consultation is the full text of the draft Compact. Please ensure you read this before responding to the consultation.
