In common with other local authorities, Hackney is refreshing its Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) and has just had its Local Area Agreement(LAA) for 2008-2011 signed off by Government.
A list of 35 national and ten local LAA indicators and targets have been selected, and these will determine commissioning priorities in Hackney. These have been derived from Hackey's Story of Place (see below) - a distinctive vision of Hackney which places tackling worklessness, raising educational achievement, and imrpoving economic performance at the heart of making Hackney a better place to live, work and visit as we move closer to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
From now on, the LAA is the only vehicle where Government will set targets with local authorities.
