Volunteering Infrastructure Tender

Developing the Hackney Volunteering Infrastructure

The National Strategy for Volunteering Infrastructure aims to develop a comprehensive network of organisations whose purpose is to support and develop volunteering through brokerage, marketing, good practice development, development of volunteering opportunities, policy work and strategic development of volunteering.

The intention is to have a recognised Volunteer Centre in each local authority area. Hackney Voluntary Action (HVA) is the official Volunteer Centre for Hackney. HVA has 8 staff working specifically on volunteering, most of whom are part-time. It runs a volunteering resource centre, a Volunteer Co-ordinators Forum, a recently launched Volunteers Forum and two highly successful young people volunteering projects. It has Investors in People and Investing in Volunteers status. The organisation is funded through the local authority, Volunteer England, ChangeUp, Children in Need and the Millennium Volunteers programme.

Team Hackney is working with HVA to develop the infrastructure needed to take the organisation into its next phase to meet the challenges arising from the forthcoming 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to continue as the key volunteer centre for Hackney.

We are therefore looking to commission an organisation or individual to work with HVA to develop a five-year business plan and review the organisation’s capacity, resources, skills needs and accommodation to deliver the key elements of the business plan.
