For a year, the refreshed Hackney Compact has been facilitating effective relationships between public agencies, the voluntary and community sector and wider ‘Third Sector’ organisations in the borough. It was approved by the board of Team Hackney, the borough’s Local Strategic Partnership, and you can read a foreword by Jules Pipe, Mayor of Hackney and Chair of Team Hackney.
The Compact is a written agreement between the sectors that sets out the way they work together to benefit local people and deliver the objectives of Hackney’s Sustainable Community Strategy (5.36MB). It covers key issues such as funding, partnership working and volunteering. It can also be used to resolve disputes that may occur between organisations who have signed up to its principles.
These pages aim to give you all the information you need and to answer any questions you might have about the Compact. You can also contact a dedicated Compact officer at Hackney Council or Hackney Council for Voluntary Service by using the form on the ‘Contact us’ page.
Over 65 organisations have already signed up and are using the Compact to guide their day-to-day work. To find out about the benefits or to add your organisation’s name, visit the Sign Up page.
