From 2008-2011, Team Hackney invested over £50m of government funding to improve the local area.
Most of the money was spent on initiatives to improve education, reduce youth offending, improve young people’s participation in positive activities and increase the employment rate.
The projects were designed to test out new ways of working and to develop better services rather than fund additional service provision in the long term.
The money came from a variety of government grants known as the Area Based Grant, which ended in March 2011.
Since 2010, Team Hackney has been working to ensure that the lessons learned from the initiatives are not lost but incorporated into mainstream services.

Third Sector Commissioning Framework
Team Hackney’s Third Sector Commissioning Framework proposes a consistent set of good practice principles and approaches for commissioning of third sector organisations, which has been adopted by all Team Hackney partners who commission services. The framework was developed with commissioners from partner organisations in Hackney and the third sector, and was approved by the Team Hackney Board in April 2011.
The ultimate aim of the framework is to ensure better outcomes for local people, through more effective commissioning.
