Hackney’s Sustainable Community Strategy is committed to promoting mixed communities in well-designed neighbourhoods, where people can access high quality, affordable housing. The Better Home Partnership brings together a wide range of housing providers, community and voluntary representatives to work towards achieving this challenging vision.

The new co-chairs of the Better Homes Partnership, Deputy Mayor Karen Alcock and Charlotte Graves, Chief Executive of Hackney Homes, met with partners on 2 June 2009, to introduce themselves and Hackney’s new Interim Director of Neighbourhoods and Regeneration Steve Douglas. These three new members set out their vision of housing at the centre of Hackney’s Sustainable Community Strategy and its delivery.

Over the coming months and in the lead up to the next Better Homes Partnership board meeting (which will be held in September 2009), this vision and the partnership’s objectives will be further developed - alongside a robust forward plan.

In the meantime any enquiries and suggestions should be directed to the Better Homes Partnership’s advisor, Dominic Luscombe, who can be contacted on 020 8356 3307 or at dominic.luscombe@hackney.gov.uk
